With more cruise ships setting sail, we are getting more optimistic about cruising from the U.S. soon. Catch up with all of the latest cruise updates in our latest Cruise News for October 25th recap. If you enjoy the video, please make sure to give it a BIG THUMBS UP! MSC Cruises had yet another ship set sail last week. The MSC Magnifica embarked on a 10 day cruise stopping in Italy, Malta, and Greece. This is the second ship in the fleet to offer cruises in Europe. MSC Grandiosa has successfully completed 9 sailings with the brand’s new health and safety measures. This is very encouraging cruise news as it demonstrates that cruise lines can sail during the global health crisis. MSC Cruises also announced a revolutionary new air system coming to MSC Seashore. The company’s Safe Air technology will use UV-C rays to eliminate virus, bacteria, and mold from air circulated around the ship. This improved air quality will be a welcomed addition to the ship given the current pandemic. Royal Caribbean also had two major updates in our latest cruise news stories this week. First, in a surprising announcement, the company revealed a number of new ship deployments and changes to its 2021-2022 winter season. Among the changes was the relocating of Allure of the Seas from Galveston, Texas, to Fort Lauderdale, FL. The line is also moving Freedom of the Seas from San Juan, PR to Miami, FL. Additionally, Royal Caribbean made itinerary changes for ships in Australia, including new sailings for Quantum of the Seas and Ovation of the Seas. Further, Royal Caribbean debuted a new promotion for 2021 cruises. All cruisers who are already booked, or book a cruise before December 31st, will receive double loyalty points. This bonus is good for almost all cruises and for all stateroom categories. Holland America Line also revealed new sailings for 2021. The company will position 6 ships in Alaska next summer. Among the ships sailing in the region will be the Eurodam, Koningsdam, and the Nieuw Amsterdam. The line will offer a variety of one-way cruises from Whittier Alaska or Vancouver, BC, as well as roundtrip cruises from Seattle, WA and Vancouver, BC. The first cruise to set sail from the United Kingdom headed west last week. The SeaDream 1 sailed from the Portsmouth International port with 19 British passengers. This is part of a longer transatlantic cruise that originated in Norway. The ship is bound for Barbados, where it will offer Caribbean cruises for the winter season. Carnival Corporation also received a positive update last week. In this latest cruise news, a federal judge issued an updated ruling regarding Carnival’s ongoing legal sanctions due to environmental infractions. Originally, it was assumed the judge would require Carnival to submit plans 60 days ahead of its return to cruising; however, she ruled that the company can submit the new environmental protocols 30 days in advance. This new timeline gives Carnival enough time to submit its protocols and still return to cruising in the U.S. on time, which is currently scheduled for December 1st of this year (pending clearance from the CDC).
