Here comes HomeMade In India Series - AMAZING ASSAM's Part 1. We celebrated Bhogali Bihu at my friend Ankur Saikia's village Hawfaw near Sapekhati, Assam. We got acquainted with Assamese food feast called Jolpan consisting of dishes made from a variety of Rice, such as Peethas, Hurum and Sira. We also went to the nearby Rohan village, where the lovely village ladies showed us how to make Rice Beer (Laopani/ Haaz) and then I did some crazy non-stop Bihu dance with them. Gurjas and I had the most memorable time travelling through North East India. We will be sharing more stories from this series.
