Bottom watering plants that are really dry is one of the best indoor plant care techniques to learn! The challenge is that once the soil is parched, the potting mix won't absorb water anymore! This plant-saving watering technique is called "bottom watering" and every houseplant lover should know how to do it along with pruning plants that have started to dry out. Watering indoor plants with parched soil is impossible because the soil actually repels the water. The reason for this is because the peat moss in the potting soil changes from water-absorbing material to water-repelling material once it has become dry. By immersing the pots in tubs of water, the peat moss is slowly rehydrated until it can draw up water from the bottom of the container.
