A flowering Hibiscus plant that she trains to grow flat against a wall. This is how you train a large plant to fit in a small space- espalier it! The technique is called "espalier" and it allows the Hibiscus to be exposed to maximum sunshine. The Hibiscus stems are tied to a trellis, opening and exposing the hibiscus to maximum sunshine, resulting in lots of Hibiscus flowers! In addition to the hibiscus, Shirley plants Agapanthus, a perennial summer flowering plant with strappy leaves, and an Aeonium succulent plant that grows tall and narrow.
