Edgar Fabián Frías's video: Come See My Art at ICA SF Nierika: The Pause The Void The Map

I have been selected as one of the artists to participate in the Meantime Program, a series of takeovers and pop-ups occurring during renovations at 901 Minnesota Street, between January and April, in advance the fall 2022 opening of the Institute Of Contemporary Art in San Francisco. As a part of this program, I will be producing Nierika: The Pause, The Void, The Map, which consists of the unveiling of a brand new eight foot by eight foot Nierika —a ceremonial and divinatory tool of the Wixáritari people of Mexico — which I have recently created. Join us: Friday 3/11 from 5:00 pm - 8:00 pm for a viewing of the artwork. Workshops will be on: Saturday from 11:00 am -12:30 pm and Sunday from 1:00 pm -2:30 pm. These workshops will go deeper into the concept of the Nierika as well as divination and ancestral communion. These workshops will also have an experiential component and will invite participants to share any messages they receive from the artwork. These events are free. Registration is required.
