This talk between artists Yunuen Rhi and Edgar Fabián Frías happened on May 11, 2020 between 5:30pm - 6:30pm PST. During this talk these two artists shared a little bit about their background and training as well as the ways they came together and the projects they've participated in. In addition to this, they discussed the theme of the Body as Altar and the important of creating new myths in our time. Yunuen also offers a short Daoist Taoist meditation at the beginning of the conversation to ground the conversation within the liminal space. In addition to this, they shared that they will be offering an immersive virtual workshop on Wednesday May 13, 2020 from 6pm - 8pm PST. Yunuen Rhi's Bio: We are a two-spirit performance artist, anthropologist, martial art instructor and healer. Our roots are in Mexico, the United States, and Korea. We have cultivated ourselves in western, eastern, native medicine pathways and practices as a way to deepen the understanding of “selves.” Our performance work incorporates ritual and psychomagic elements. Our performance interest lie in social practice as a way to create effective bridges between performance and community needs in a decolonial setting. Born in East Los Angeles in 1983, Frías received dual BA degrees in Psychology and Studio Art from the University of California, Riverside. In 2013, they received an MA in Clinical Mental Health Counseling at Portland State University in Portland, Oregon, with an emphasis on Interpersonal Neurobiology and Somatic Psychotherapy.
