Have you heard about the enormous aquarium inside a Berlin hotel that burst today? We visited in 2017 - watch this video for more on the story. 💔
On December 16, 2022 this enormous aquarium at a Berlin hotel burst.
The AquaDom Aquarium inside Berlin’s 5-star Radisson Hotel contained 1500 tropical fish and 1 million litres of water.
At 38 feet wide and 50 feet tall, the Aquadom held a Guinness world record for world’s largest cylindrical aquarium since opening in 2003.
Located in the lobby of the hotel, visitors could view the sea creatures from an elevator inside the glass tank.
The tank burst in the early morning when few people were present. Two people were slightly injured.
Fish that survived the initial blast were found in the street outside, frozen due to frigid temperatures of -7 Celsius.
Hundreds of fish have been found alive in a pool of water in the bottom of the shattered aquarium and also the building’s basement. Efforts are underway to save them.
The cause of the devastation is under investigation.
