I wanted to do something different to start off the new year...so I ended up hiking part of the Trans Catalina Trail solo for several days. Santa Catalina Island is off the coast of Southern California so I decided to plan a trip and take the ferry over after visiting my family for the holidays. I've never done a multi-day thru hike, let alone solo, so it was a welcome challenge to push myself outside my comfort zone.
