Decided to make up for the couple of failures I had recently and go to an extra test this month. On this unusually warm day for October, I ventured up north to Cumberland for this awesome, refurbished 10/12 Allertor, located by a church on the outskirts of town. This siren was originally installed in White Bear Lake (technically White Bear Township) until it was replaced by a 2001-130 in April 2018. It was later purchased at an auction by Nate (MWS), and he had it until 2020, when he gave it to Blake Byrd of Cumberland, who maintains the city's system. He chose to have the siren re-installed by the church, and with the help of Sheboygan Warning Systems, this siren was put back into service in August 2021. Blake was also at the Allertor today, and I briefly chatted with him after the test. I was expecting them to be a bit late with testing, but to my surprise, tones were sent out just before 11, and the siren went off on time. This was one of the louder sirens I've heard, and I'd definitely recommend hearing this in person sometime! Barron County tests their sirens at 11AM on the first Monday of each month from April-October. The city of Cumberland tests year-round, however from November-March they test at 12PM instead.
