Elisa Cardellini's video: Kurt Schwitters 1887 - 1948

Il movimento Dada di Hannover, sin dal 1918 si identifica con l'attività artistica di Kurt Schwitters (1887 - 1948), il quale abbandonato l'attività non figurativa elaborò una tecnica singolare che consisteva nell'assemblare qualunque cosa egli ritenesse degna di interesse in combinazioni plastiche di grandi dimensioni. Schwitters, aderì comunque marginalmente a Dada, tanto da dare al proprio movimento un nome diverso e cioè "Merz" seguendo un percorso autonomo. Celebre il suo grandissimo assemblaggio chiamato Merzbau (1920 - 1936) che giunse sino a quasi coincidere con la propria abitazione. 'I am a painter and I nail my pictures together.' (Schwitters) 'Merz pictures are abstract works of art. The word Merz essentially denotes the combination of all conceivable materials, and in principle the equal evaluation of all materials. Merzmalerie [Merz painting] makes use not only of paint and canvas, brushes and palette, but of all materials perceptible to the eye and of all available implements. It is unimportant if the material was already formed for some other purpose. The artist creates through the distribution of materials.'
