Emeril Lagasse's video: Long Island Ice Tea Emeril Lagasse

Emeril’s favorite version of iced tea dates back to the 1970’s in its namesake region of New York. This jacked up version of iced tea includes 5 types of alcohol, a splash of cola, and surprisingly, no tea at all! LONG ISLAND ICED TEA SERVES 2 1 cup water 1 cup sugar Grated zest of 1 lemon Ice cubes 1 ounce gin ½ ounce triple sec 1 ounce vodka 1 ounce white rum 1 ounce tequila Coca Cola 2 orange wedges Combine sugar, water, and lemon zest in a small saucepan. Bring to simmer over medium heat, stirring occasionally, until sugar has melted, and mixture becomes syrupy. Remove from heat and let cool completely. Strain simple syrup through a fine sieve, discarding zest. Fill a large cocktail shaker and 2 tall glasses with ice. Add gin, triple sec, vodka, white rum, tequila, and ¼ cup simple syrup to the shaker. Refrigerate remaining syrup for another use. Cover and shake until chilled and well combined. Divide mixture between two glasses. Add cola to fill and serve immediately garnished with orange wedges.
