Emery Island's video: Daniel Elton John Emery Island Cover

For some reason I found this song on repeat while driving back from Texas. I drove through Louisiana, Mississippi, and Alabama. Always love the bridges on this drive. Not sure why this song seems to be speaking to me now, but it made me cry more than a few times. Perhaps it is me missing friends who have passed on, family I have lost, or the feeling that I have now lived several lives within this one little life, only making the world feel more lonely and perhaps too disjointed to clearly navigate. So many dreams we have that have died and memories we must now find a way to live with. Sometimes I miss myself and the way I once was, the innocence and the courage of youth. The bravery that is careless, yet so magical. In this space we can fly, not yet having discovered that there are limits to our world. Even-still, somewhere deep inside of me that strange familiar magic still haunts my aging bones— never letting me forget that I am still alive and that there is even more to see and feel now that my heart has grown strong enough to carry my wings.
