Emily Illustrator's video: Color Mixing Challenge

@Color Mixing Challenge!
Color mixing challenge! First thing to know: It does not need to be perfect! This exercise is meant to stretch your creative mind. To look closer at which colors combine to make up another color. You’re definitely going to want to consult a color wheel for this one. I chose Prismacolors, because when it comes to color mixing, they’re the smoothest. Creating new colors with pencils is not the same as mixing with paint. You are limited as to how many layers you add on top. So, take your time and choose your colors wisely. For these two color mixings, I chose Dark Green, and Light Aqua. For the pencils used, I chose variations on reds, blues, and yellows. Keep in mind that for lighter colors, you can’t add just white. White is a tint, and while it will lighten a color, it won’t had to the vibrancy of that color. In this case, for the Light Aqua, I wanted to use a lighter blue, and light layer of yellow. I used white, but I used it sparingly. For the Dark green, I chose a darker blue, like Cobalt, because I was going for a darker richer green. I added a small bit of black to give it that dark green look. Without the black, the green would have resembled a green more like, Peacock Green. You don’t need to copy my color choices exactly. You can even start with an easier color, like orange. A warmer red vs. a cooler red would be helpful in that situation. Should I add more videos of how I mixed the rest of the colors on the work sheet? Also, would you like me to add this work sheet to the free downloads on my website? Let me know in the comments!
