Sometimes, we don't always have access to all the art materials we want. Many artists are on tight budgets, and don't always have the opportunity to purchase expensive things to paint on, like finished canvas and art boards. Or like in the current state of the world, you might be stuck inside, self-isolating, social distancing, and in quarantine. I have a had a handful of folks reach out to me saying that they want to try my painting tutorials, BUT they had run out of canvases to paint on! So I did a little brain storming and came up with a little solution. Not only is it an art hack thats environmentally friendly and gentle on your wallet, but it's also one that might get you through and art supplies scarcity while you are waiting for this crazy virus to die down. Here's my quick art tip: Make art on garbage! And not in a trashy way either! You can cut out some clean cardboard from your recycling bin and gesso it up to make some really great DIY painting surfaces for you to work on! This is also great if your a starving artist and finances art tight and you are just looking for a great way to do a little painting practice. It's also an amazing way to reuse and repurpose items. Its an unfortunate fact that not everything we put in our recycle bins actually makes it to its new life. A lot of things that are "recycled" actually end up in landfills. But if you make aart out of your recyclables, thats a 100% guarantee that it's getting a new life!
