taxi driver or any Scorsese movie really... I really think Martin Scorsese is a master when it comes to film, he really captures what it’s like to live in America as an Italian-American (trust me I know, I’m Italian myself, you know) anyway what kind of movies do you like? I’m a huge film buff, you know? Into real obscure shit like I’d name some but I bet you’ve never heard of them-you know, stuff like a clockwork orange...requiem for a dream...Charlie Kauffman movies-oh I’m sure you’ve never heard of him-a real avant garde surrealist kinda guy...did you enjoy joker when it came out? I’m sure not, you probably couldn’t understand the messaging in the movie, you know, about neoliberalism and such. A lot of people were actually comparing it to taxi driver but I thought it gave off much more of a king of comedy type vibe. Did you see parasite when it came out? Have you heard of it? It’s a foreign film so you might not find it as easy to follow-what with having to read subtitles...definitely an acquired taste only for the most hardcore film-watchers. Anyway maybe after dinner you can come over to my place and we could watch some A24 movies together. You probably haven’t seen any A24 movies but they’re the only production studio out there currently trying to keep film alive. Real heroes if you ask me. So what are you studying? History and economics? That’s so boring, have fun working a 9-5 for the rest of your life haha...me, well, I’m a cinema studies major. I applied for the film program but they didn’t accept me...real competitive you know? I still have dreams of being a director one day. I already have an idea for a movie about a misunderstood (and probably mentally ill) male protagonist who has some real fucked up thoughts in his head y’know...and there's a female love interest and blah blah blah something in the same vain as all my favorite movies, but something that’s never been done before y’know?...So do you like Wes Anderson movies? I’m not tryna talk down to you or anything you know...just not many females have a very refined taste in movies...it’s all comedies and rom-coms (chick flicks, if you will) or god forbid even comic book movies...so I’m just hoping to show you some true cinema.
