Known as the 'Gateway to Britannia', Richborough Roman Fort in Kent is where the Romans first landed in AD 43 to begin the conquest that would change the course of England's history forever. It became a thriving trading hub and later a powerful coastal 'Saxon Shore' fort. In 2022–23, we undertook a dramatic transformation of the visitor experience at Richborough to reveal the true significance of this unique place within the Roman Empire.
