@Adding games to a Playstation Classic Mini - Soft hack for PS1 Classic Mini
UPDATE : A NEW AND SAFER WAY TO ADD GAMES AVAILABLE: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=veUU5QjmIYg DISCLAIMER : This hack does not come with a easy to use user interface or anything, it really is HACKY! If you do not know what you are doing seer clear and wait for a user friendly way to do this! Today the first hack bundle for the Playstation Classic Mini was released by JustMaki on Github. The project is called GPGHax and can be found here: https://github.com/justMaku/gpghax TROUBLE SHOOTING: 1. If an ISO does not work, please edit your CUE file (with notepad or Notepad++ for instance) and change the BIN filename mentioned in the CUE file to the actual file name of the bin-file ie. 'SCUS-94426.bin'. 2. If your thumb drive does not work try to rename the thumb drive to 'SONY' (in Windows: Right-click the drive and chose 'rename'. Also try to format it with the FAT32 file format. 2b. Make sure you thumb drive is USB 2.0, some 3.0 thumb drive do not work. 3. BE SURE TO DO NOT SHUT DOWN THE SYSTEM WITH THE ADDED ISO SELECTED WHEN YOU REMOVE YOUR THUMB STICK! DISCLAIMER : Please read the information and instructions on the Github page before you stick a thumb drive in your PS1CM :) WHAT ARE BIN AND CUE FILES - little bit of background info on BIN and CUE files - These CUE an BIN files are meant as an image you can burn to a CD, but most CD based emulators use these files too. BIN files are the contents of a CD track. The CUE file tells the burning software or the emulator which track(s) need to be loaded and what kind of track it is, a data track or an audio track. It is possible your game has more then one track (and subsequent bin-files). I'm still experimenting with multiple track game images, but I think it's better to stick to the single bin roms for the short term. Theoratically you should be able give the bin-file any name you want, as long as there are correctly defined in the CUE file. As long as the CUE file has the name that is defined in the database. But even the gpgHax github page is a bit sketchy about that, as it says that the BIN and the CUE file should have the same name. That is a problem as you can't give multiple files of a multi-bin game the same name. I've read some remarks about this in the github support thread and I'll experiment with this shortly. I hope this helps you out. Feel free to drop additional questions. I'm still learning as well and it all evolves pretty quickly. The existence of this hack came to me through the Youtube channel MadlittlePixel, he made two video's about this hack, I added a little infoin regards to the possibilities to add an additional 4 and with a little advanced scripting even 29 games. Check his video and channel here on adding a game to your playstation classic mini: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=bmcayWjPe_Y His video on adding the Image Swapping option: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=5RCB3Cas5Ck If you want to add more then 1 game and change the game information on the system you need to change the SQLite database contents of the . You can use the tool DB Browser : https://sqlitebrowser.org/ This hack is evolving and different users are adding more en more functionality to the hack in this Reddit thread: https://www.reddit.com/r/PlaystationClassic/comments/a44ka6/add_custom_games_on_usb_storage_with_gpghax/
