Evin Gualberto's video: Crystal Dangerfield - Super Scorer SHIFTY

Crystal Dangerfield. WNBA Rookie of the Year. WNBA All-Rookie Team. Crystal was drafted 16th in the WNBA draft. Prior to this season, the lowest draft pick to ever win WRoY was Tracy Reid, the 7th pick, in 1998. At 5’5”, she and Leilani Mitchell are the shortest active players in the WNBA. Crystal came off the bench to begin her career, but when she was handed a starting spot by Cheryl Reeve, she did not relinquish it. She finished as THE leading scorer of a team that made the WNBA Semifinals, ranked 11th in the league in scoring (second amongst rookies) and third in free throw percentage. She finished her first year in the league with higher scoring average than any time in college. She just continues to grow. The first thing that jumps out about Dangerfield is that she can devastate with just her stop and go game. She's so crafty and creative and she uses her stature to slice defense and carve out space that few other players could create. Her HESI is SO deadly. She may be undersized but she should never be underestimated. Her footwork is the foundation for everything she does. She's explosive and fearless and game for any matchup. Crystal can really create for herself and obviously she is capable of playmaking for others - she sits JUST behind Sue Bird for the single-season assist record at UConn and also FIFTH on the Huskies career assist list. She can attack the rack with either hand, and as you will see in this video, just about every kind of finish. She is supremely skilled, gaining a mastery of that midrange and has shown flashes of being able to pull from DEEP. She joined an elite group when she became the Rookie of the Year as a member of the Minnesota Lynx: Betty Lennox, Seimone Augustus, Maya Moore, and Napheesa Collier. I've been a fan of hers since UConn. I'm pleased she won RoY and I'm excited to see what she does from here on out.
