Jrue Holiday. 2018 All-Defensive First Team. 2019 All-Defensive Second Team. 2013 NBA All-Star. Holiday had a career year in 2018-19 but the departure of a certain All-NBA First Teamer brought a lot of change to New Orleans. Despite all the turnover, Holiday still continued to ball. He averaged 19.1 points (second best in his career), 4.8 rebounds (career high), 6.7 assists (top 20 in the league - tied with Chris Paul), 1.6 steals (ties his career high, top 12 in the league, again tied with Chris Paul). Jrue is just a bucket. He seems to breeze to the basket. He’s long, and strong, and rarely puts a foot wrong. He’s a dynamic defender - that will always be his calling card, but he’s GROSSLY underrated as a shot maker. He’s tough, he’s got touch, and whether it’s with his muscle or his incredibly inventive mind, he almost mystifies with the way he manuevers to the basket. If he didn’t spend most of his prime in the hyper stacked Western Conference, who knows how many All-Star berths he might have earned himself? According to Cleaning the Glass, Holiday had a 58% assisted rate from 3 (by far the highest number) while having a 38% assisted rate overall. That statistic, along with the eye test, can tell you that A LOT of Jrue’s baskets seem to come off the dribble. So you know, we can squash the whole “he’s a bad shooter” take right here and now. Also - in case you weren't sure, Jrue is TRULY ambidextrous.
