OG Anunoby. 2019 NBA Champion. Future All-Defense MAINSTAY. Anunoby’s ability defensively is dazzlingly dynamic. He may well end up a cross between peak Shawn Marion’s switch ability and Ben Wallace’s power and physical post defense despite his height. Whether it is sticking with Kemba Walker in isolation in crunch time or helping contain Nikola Jokic in the Mile High City (to the tune of 7 steals that game) or manning the middle of Nick Nurse’s gnarly zone or switching on just about every single body out on the floor. OG’s power is immediately noticeable with his rebounds. His ferocity and force moves seemingly stronger guys out of the way. There’s not a whole lot to dislike about OG unless you’re the guy he’s guarding. Before the season shut down, OG Anunoby’s isolation stats were UNREAL. Per NBA Advanced Stats, he held opposing players to 0.61 points per possession in isolation. That’s JUST behind Kawhi Leonard in isolation defense. Per Cleaning the Glass, he finished in the 89 percentile for forwards when it came to steal percentage. He was in the 100 percentile for forwards in playoff blocks.
