Excelsior Entertainments's video: 1884 Bullhouse Railway Accident

Back in July 2023 I did a walking and droning video called "A Bridge Too Far" and you can find the link here. https://youtu.be/mOrtGe4aVi8?feature=shared In that video I walked from Dunford Bridge to Penistone and along the way I pointed out various items of interest. One such location was the Bullhouse Chapel where I took a break and told the story of the Bullhouse Railway Accident. With only a few notes to hand I made a plan to return to the location at a later date to do a more indepth video. Therefore in this video local social historian Dave Cherry breaks down and investigates the story in full of the accident that took place on the afternoon of Wednesday 16th July 1884. Joining him in his investigation is Granville D. Clarke from "Watercolour Challenge" and railwaymen Tony Hulson and John Hanson. The bridge decking which is severely rotten and unsafe to cross needs to be replaced. At present there are issues finding a supplier for a like for like decking replacement with only thinner materials being available. The structural engineers are working really hard to resolve the supply issue and are currently in discussions with installers. No date as of yet when this can be done however BMBC are doing all they can to get the bridge resurfaced and open as soon as possible.
