Exclusive News's video: 1 dead in Glen Carbon house fire

GLEN CARBON • An adult was found dead but six children, all siblings ranging from infants to teens, escaped a house fire Thursday morning in Glen Carbon. Police said they were looking into whether the fire at 15 Dogwood Lane was connected to an incident outside Highland in which a car went into Silver Lake with a baby inside. The baby was rescued from the vehicle. Police had not found the driver. In a news conference, Glen Carbon Police Lt. Wayne White said two of the children ran to a nearby Wal-Mart and called 911 after the fire broke out about 5:30 a.m. White said the possible connection to the Silver Lake incident was under investigation. A connection was “a possibility,” he said. Police were searching for the home’s owner, Cristy Lynn Campbell, saying she was a “person of interest” and possibly in danger.
