@How to Install the Monthly Google Play System Update on Android?

Locating the Google Play System Updates [02:30] 3. Another example using a different phone [05:20] Most of us know to check for the monthly OTA security update (if we aren't bombarded with update notifications). And we know how important these updates are, too. However, since the release of Android 10 Google has been working to separate some of those security changes from the actual OTA update. This is done thanks to the work the company did with Project Mainline. More details about Project Mainline can be found here. . . - https://android-developers.googleblog.com/2020/07/accelerating-android-updates.html - https://android-developers.googleblog.com/2019/05/fresher-os-with-projects-treble-and-mainline.html - https://www.theverge.com/2019/5/7/18531350/google-android-q-project-mainline-security-updates-play-store-io-2019 The general idea is, it takes too long for Google to push security updates through OEMs and wireless carriers so they began working on a feature to resolve the technical hurdle. This resulted in Project Mainline. A way for Google to quickly send some security update changes to each and every Android smartphone or tablet that has the Google Play Store installed (and all of its required framework and services). The thing is, I don't see these updates getting as much coverage as the standard monthly OTA update. So as a reminder, I want to show people where this feature is tucked away, and how easy it is for you to install the update. To prevent any confusion among different phones, we'll be using the search feature within the Settings app. In fact, we just need to use that to search for the phrase "google play system update" (without the quotation marks). A result should appear toward the top of the list and all you have to do is tap the result to be taken directly to the Settings menu location. From here, look to see which update you're currently on to find out if you're behind or not. Note: it can take Google a week or two to push out a Google Play System Update to your device. So if you're still stuck on last month's update then you'll likely be eligible for the new update in the coming days. You simply need to remember to tap this option to manually check to see if you can install a new update. If you can, the install process is rather quick and you'll just be instructed to reboot the smartphone via a blue button at the bottom.
