This is an Android application from developer Quinny899 that brings the Google Pixel double tap gesture from Android 12 to any device running Android 7.0 with an accelerometer and gyroscope. This application can be downloaded from their GitHub page, which you'll find linked in the video description below. But I'll also provide a mirror for those who are wanting the same version I'm using in this video. Once downloaded, we can sideload the application just like we would any other APK file. After the app has been opened, we do need to go through a simple setup process. So we have the basic Double Tap Action, which will be activated when we tap on the back of the phone twice. This section will have two actions set up for you automatically, but we can remove them by long-pressing on them and then tapping remove. From here, we can set up our own action that will happen when the double tap gesture is detected. Tap Tap has over 50 actions developed for us to choose from and range from launching an application all the way to executing a Tasker task. Similar to the Double Tap Actions, we also have Triple Tap Actions. Which is just as it sounds. . .actions that will only be performed when the app detects there were three consecutive taps on the back of the phone. In some cases, people may prefer to remove all double tap actions and only set up triple tap actions as a way to prevent the app from detecting false positives. I haven't personally noticed this with double tap actions on the Galaxy S23 here, but your experience may differ with the phone you're using. There's also a feature in the application called Gates. This is a way for you to tell the application when to ignore taps on the back of the phone. By default, taps are ignored with the display is off. . .but you could allow the app to detect those taps by simply toggling this gate off. Some people have noticed that the app detects false positives while they're typing with the keyboard. So a gate that has been added to the app by default is for when the keyboard is open. This gate is disabled, though, so if you notice it happening to you, simply come in here and toggle it on. There are a number of gates you can set up within the Tap Tap application by tapping the Add Gate button here and then browing through the options. If you've ever been envious of the double tap gesture that Google Pixel devices have had since the launch of Android 12, then Tap Tap is a great way to replicate that feature on all Android devices running version 7.0 or higher. It may take some time to configure the sensitivity of your device so that double tap gestures are detected while eliminating false positives. But the default setup will likely be good enough for most people.
