Explaining Android's video: Emulating Mario Kart 8 Deluxe with Yuzu on Android Galaxy S23 - Snapdragon 8 Gen 2 Adreno 740 GPU

@Emulating Mario Kart 8 Deluxe with Yuzu on Android | Galaxy S23 - Snapdragon 8 Gen 2 Adreno 740 GPU
With the help of the Snapdragon 8 Gen 2 SoC, we can play Mario Kart 8 and hit a consistent 60 FPS with the occasional slowdowns. ~~~~~ Hi! I've spoken about how to install and setup the Yuzu emulator on Android. I've also already done a video that shows how to get past the Select a Mii screen when booting up this game for this first time with Yuzu. So if you're not familiar with any of this and are looking to see how well it plays on your smartphone or tablet, be sure to check the video description below for links to those previous tutorials that I have already done. When we start up Mario Kart 8 on the Galaxy S23, we can see that it doesn't take very long to load up. We're able to jump right right into the game and set ourselves up to begin racing. You can see that I've already played through 50cc and was able to do that without the game crashing while I was in the middle of a race. That isn't to say that Mario Kart 8 won't crash at all when emulating the game with Yuzu on Android. As I have noticed a few crashes while I was sitting at a menu for 5 or 10 minutes. But while I was actually playing the game, Yuzu was able to handle it like a champ without any unexpected crashes. As far as performance is concerned, the Snapdragon 8 Gen 2 chipset inside the Galaxy S23 has been enough to emulate Mario Kart 8 Deluxe for the Nintendo Switch quite well. In my experience, I believe the only downside has been thermals, which has caused the performance to drop by 15 to 20 frames per second. That hasn't made the game unplayable, though. As it just makes it feel like the game is going in slow motion. And in some cases, has actually helped me get through difficult turns. But it is noticeable when it happens. Sometimes the performance will go back up to 60FPS by the time you finish the race you're on. . .but in most cases the slowdown that happens will last through the end of the track. The FPS will jump back up to 60 by the time the next track starts. . .but I have seen that only last a short while in a few gaming sessions as it ends up dropping back down to around 40 to 45 frames per second. I suspect thermals to be the issue here since performance does end up going back to normal speeds. I have also checked on temps after extended playthroughs and noticed the SoC hitting 115F, which is about 46C. I've begun to notice this thermal issue more and more as I get to test out more Nintendo Switch emulation on Android. It can certainly be annoying while you're in the middle of an important game, but it's something that we can certainly overcome with time and improvements to the chips that are being used in mobile devices these days. In a couple of years, an Android flagship may not even need the help of a fan to get through most Switch games without any hit to performance. For now, if you want a flawless experience when emulating Switch games on an Android smartphone or tablet, it either needs to be a 2D game or you will need to cool down the device. I have heard the vapor chamber of the Galaxy S23 Ultra is able to help a bit, but I haven't been able to personally test this to compare the results And again, that hasn't prevented me from enjoying this game, or any 3D Switch game that I've noticed it with.
