Install the SoundAssistant application [00:50] 3. Open the app 4. Then locate the "Change Step Volume" feature [01:22] When changing the volume level on your Samsung Galaxy smartphone or tablet, you may have noticed that it changes quite a lot. For the end-user, this results in the feature having both pros and cons. So yes, having the volume steps set to the default, will take fewer presses (or time) of the volume button to make large changes to the loudness. This makes it faster to silence the device and many people like it this way. However, it also limits the granular control of your Samsung Galaxy device's volume. I know there have been many times where one press up makes the volume too loud while one press down makes it too low. Thankfully, Samsung offers an application called SoundAssistant that gives us some customization options here. Once installed (you can find the app in the Play Store or the Galaxy Store), simply open the app and look within the settings menu page that is displayed. You should end up seeing an option called "Change Step Volume" and a slider that we can adjust from 1 all the way to 10. Remember, by default the Volume Up and Volume Down buttons change the volume steps by a LOT. And this is because the feature is set to 10 by default. So, we can just slide that over to 7, 5, or even 3 (any lower and it really takes a long time to silence the phone or tablet). Each time you change this option, try it out by pressing the Volume Up or Volume Down button a few times. Set things up in a way that you're happy with.
