Broken Symmetries is a new international exhibition premiering at FACT, with a series of talks from artists, scientists and curators who are pushing the boundaries of artist research and deepening engagement with science. This unprecedented collaboration between artists and scientists brings a close to the three year partnership with Arts at Cern and FACT with opening talks presented in partnership with LJMU and Liverpool LASER. LASER (Leonardo Art Science Evening Rendevouz) talks are Leonardo's international programme of evening gatherings that bring artists and scientists together for informal presentations and conversations on art and science. INTRODUCTION AND THE COLLIDE AWARD TALK What is the Collide International Residency Award and how do artists and scientists meet in the abstract field? Chaired by Mónica Bello, Curator & Head of Arts at CERN and curator of Broken Symmetries. Panel are Yu-Chen Wang, Lea Porsager and Yunchul Kim. Broken Symmetries is co-produced by ScANNER (the Science and Art Network for New Exhibitions and Research), composed of Arts at CERN (the arts program of the European Organization for Nuclear Research, Geneva); FACT (Foundation for Art and Creative Technology, Liverpool); CCCB (Centre de Cultura Contemporània de Barcelona); iMAL (interactive Media Arts Laboratory, Brussels); and le lieu unique (Center for Contemporary Culture – Nantes). Broken Symmetries Liverpool LASER talks are presented in partnership with LJMU and Leonardo LASER talks.
