FAU Harbor Branch Aquaculture Researcher Ikuko Fujisaki, Ph.D. explains and demonstrates the materials and methods for growing edible halophyte plants, also known as sea vegetables, in different substrates (sand, clay pebbles and raft) and in a hydroponic system (nutrient film technique). Dr. Fujisaki also shows how to start the seedlings from seeds and from cuttings and how to plant these seedlings. The sea vegetables are grown in an Integrated Multi-Trophic Aquaculture System.
