Behind the Science – A Wednesday Web Chat featuring Joshua Voss, Ph.D. on Wednesday, June 17. Dr. Joshua Voss is an associate research professor at FAU’s Harbor Branch Oceanographic Institute and the executive director of the NOAA Cooperative Institute for Ocean Exploration, Research, and Technology (CIORT). His primary areas of interest include shallow and mesophotic coral reef ecology, coral health and disease, marine molecular ecology, and marine conservation and management. A certified technical diver and scuba instructor, Voss completed over 1500 scientific dives and led more than 35 scientific expeditions. Voss teaches in both the undergraduate and graduate programs at FAU and has served on the South Atlantic Fisheries Management Council Coral Advisory Panel, the Florida Keys National Marine Sanctuary Technical Advisory Committee, The South Florida Marine Research Hub, and the Southeast Florida Coral Reef Initiative as co-lead of their Technical Advisory Committee. Voss completed his bachelor’s degree at Elon University in North Carolina, earned his Ph.D. at Florida International University in Miami, and was a faculty member at Eckerd College before joining FAU’s Harbor Branch.
