FAU Harbor Branch Oceanographic Institute's video: Journey of the HAUCS short version

@Journey of the HAUCS short version
The US aquaculture industry faces two dilemmas: the US has abundant water resources and yet the industry suffers a $14 billion annual deficit. The fish farming industry is labor intensive – ideal for robotic technology and yet it has seen limited adoption. With funding from USDA-NIFA through the National Robotics Initiative program, FAU-Harbor Branch Oceanographic is developing the concept of Hybrid Aerial/Underwater Robotic System (HAUCS) that we hope will revolutionize how pond aquaculture is practiced. The HAUCS framework can be summarized as the “internet of Aquaculture” – a group of autonomous platforms integrated with underwater sensors to monitor the water quality parameters of the ponds. The data collected from these platforms will be fed into a machine learning model to predict the status of the pond and enable the farm managers to plan during their daily operations.
