Tsunami surging to Shinchi town (Footage provided by viewer) The Japanese text is followed by an English translation. 福島県の北部、宮城県との県境にある、新地町(相馬郡)を襲った津波の映像。 新地町大戸浜地区に住んでいた森 和哉さん(当時40歳)が撮影。 地震から1時間後の午後3時41分、テレビで地震情報を確認していた森さん。津波に関する情報は、テレビからは伝わってこなかったが、不安をおぼえ、自宅の2階に上がり、自宅から200メートルほど離れた釣師浜漁港付近にカメラを向けた。 すると、港の沖に張り出した堤防の高さを超えて、すでに津波が、どんどん港内に入り込んできていた。係留されている何隻かの漁船が激流に揺さぶられている。 港内の水位は、あっという間に上昇し、堤防すらも見えなくなる。 自宅付近まで迫りくる津波に、身の危険を感じた森さんは、ここで撮影を中断し、急いで50メートルほど離れた自宅の裏山へと駆け上がった。自宅の裏山も、ほんのわずかばりの高台でしかなく、森さんは木の上にまでよじ登り、なんとか難を逃れたという。 自宅で最初にカメラを回し始めてから7分後の午後3時48分、裏山に避難した森さんは、しがみついていた木から降りて、再びカメラを回す。 避難場所のすぐ間近まで迫っている波。波とともに押し寄せるがれき。大きな住宅さえも流され、目の前を横切っていく。 少しだけ身を乗り出し、わずかに北側方向にカメラを向けると、港にあったはずの船が、裏山に隣接する7メートルほどの高台にまで乗り上げられていた。 まもなく森さんは、近くの民家に避難を促され、撮影を中止。 後日の取材で、森さんは「もう目の前は海です。全部...」と、この時の状況を語った。 この津波にのみこまれ、森さんの自宅も全壊した。 Footage: A capture of the tsunami attacking Shinchi town of Soma district, situated in the northern part of Fukushima prefecture, at the border between Miyagi prefecture.
