Minamisanriku town suffering great damage (Third day following the earthquake) The Japanese text is followed by an English translation. 津波の被害を受けた宮城県本吉郡南三陸町の状況(震災3日目 : 午前11時ごろ) 3つの取材班がそれぞれに分かれ、同町内の異なった地域を取材。 一班目は、国道45号線(東浜街道)沿いに志津川湾方面に向かい、JR気仙沼線・陸前戸倉駅近く、戸倉地区一帯の被害状況を報告。国道はガレキに塞がれ、国道沿いに流れる折立川のぬかるんだ川べりが貴重な移動経路となっていた。 海岸付近の建物はほとんど流され、まるで更地のような状態となっており、残された町立戸倉小学校の白い建物だけが異彩を放っている。付近の町立戸倉中学校を訪れると、標高約15mという高台にあり、周辺住民の避難所にもなっていたこの中学校にまで津波は達していた。 二班目は、県道398号線(本吉街道)から志津川湾を目指した。海岸から2kmほど離れた小森、熊田地区の近辺、レスキュー隊や自衛隊の隊員らも頻繁に行き交う。 高台にある町立志津川中学校付近から、ほぼ壊滅状態となった市街地の凄惨な光景を捉えると、公立志津川病院など極限られた高さのあるビル・家屋を除き、ほとんどの建物が原型をとどめず、ガレキの山と化している。宮城県南三陸合同庁舎ビルも、3階の窓まで破壊されていた。 三班目は、志津川東部の大森崎付近から県道221号線を伝い、街の中心部に向かう。高台の大森付近で、市街地中心部から旭ケ浦方面にかけてをカメラが捉え、大きく損壊した新井田川防潮水門や志津川漁協製氷工場の姿も映し出される。さらに進もうとするも、倒壊した家屋などの残骸に、行く手を阻まれた。 *映像中に登場するレポーターは、以下3名[登場順：いずれもフジテレビジョン] 川原浩揮 ディレクター/新井愼一 ディレクター/内橋 徹 記者 Minamisanriku town of Motoyoshi district, Miyagi prefecture suffering damages from the tsunami. (Third day following earthquake, around 11 a.m.) News crew divide themselves up into three groups and report from different areas of the same town. The first group heads toward Shizugawa bay area on National route 45 (along Higashihama highway), reporting on the situation of damages at JR Kessennuma line near Rikuzen-Togura station, and neighborhood of Tokura district. National route 45 has been blocked by rubble in multiple places, with the slushy riverbank of Oritate river acting as the alternative route. Residents from the area come and go over this bumpy road cautiously. .The buildings near the coast have washed away for the most part, creating a vacant plot of land. The only one remaining is the white building of Togura Municipal Elementary School, presenting itself as a conspicuous figure. Upon visiting Togura Municipal Junior High School nearby, a shocking truth is further discovered. Even at an elevated ground of 15m above sea level, the tsunami had reached this Junior High School that was designated as an emergency shelter for neighborhood residents. The second group headed to Shizugawa bay from National Route 398 (along Motoyoshi highway) approximately 2km from the coast, near Komori and Kumata district. Here, rescue teams and self defense forces create a frequent stream of traffic. The camera captures scenes from the plateau of Municipal Shizugawa Junior High School to the gruesome town center in ruins. Aside from the taller buildings such as the Shizugawa public hospital and a few other houses, most architectural buildings have lost its former appearance, having turned into a mountain of debris. The building of Miyagi prefecture's Minamisanriku governmental offices have been destroyed up to the windows of the third floor. The third group headed to the city center along prefectural road 221 near Oomorizaki area of Shizugawa river on the east. Near the elevated grounds of Oomori district, the camera captures a bird's eye view of the city center in the direction of Asahigaura. The tide gate of Niida river and ice plant of Japan fisheries cooperative is pictured as well. The group heads down to lower ground and attempts to follow the prefectural road, but the remains of collapsed houses and cars stand in the way. -Appearing in the footage are 3 reporters from Fuji Television.
