Damage situation near Hitachi district of Ibaraki port (Day after the earthquake) The Japanese text is followed by an English translation. 津波の被害を受けた茨城県日立市久慈町付近(茨城港日立港区周辺)の様子を捉えた映像(震災翌日: 午後3時すぎ) 港湾のすぐ間近(海岸から約200メートル)を通る国道245号線、日立港入口の交差点付近に、取材スタッフの車両が差しかかる。 前方を行く自衛隊車両の後ろに従う形で、国道を南下すると、道路のあちこちに、波に流されたまま、路上に放置されたと思われる自動車が、多数点在していた(日立市みなと町付近)。 道沿いのフェンスも、波の力で変形・損壊していたり、路面も、波で運ばれてきたと思われる土砂で覆われていたり、車両が通行すると、乾いた泥が、土ぼこりとなって舞い上がる。 幹線道路から外れ、久慈4丁目の住宅地付近に入ると、大勢の自衛隊員らが、がれきの撤去作業を展開していた。 久慈交流センター前で、スタッフが徒歩で周囲を散策すると、住宅の壁に、高さ約1メートルほどにまで達した津波の痕跡が、はっきりと確認できた。 さらに、住宅地の奥(久慈3丁目方面)へと進むスタッフ車両。 住宅や商店が立ち並ぶ細い街路は、いたるところ泥だらけで、時折、片づけ作業をする住民らの姿も見える。 午後4時半ごろ、日立港区の北東部に隣接した久慈漁港付近を訪れ、高台から港内を一望すると、転覆し、船底を上に向けて港湾内に漂う船や、岸壁に乗り上げた船などが確認できる。 壊れた漁具も港内に数多く散在し、津波の恐怖を静かに物語っていた。 [映像中に登場するレポーターは、フジテレビジョン・寺尾伸幸記者] Footage: Capture of the situation at Kuji town of Hitachi city, Ibaraki prefecture (Near Hitachi district of Ibaraki port) suffering damage from the tsunami. (Day after the earthquake, around 3 p.m.) The staff car approaches nearby the harbor (200m from the coast) where national route 245 runs, close to the Hitachi Port entrance crossing. Heading down south on the national route following the Self Defense Forces' car ahead, vehicles that were washed away by waves are interspersed along the road, now abandoned. (Near Minato town, Hitachi city) The fences along the road have been bent out of shape or destroyed by the force of waves. The surface of the road is covered with dirt that was presumably carried there by waves. When the car passes through, dried dirt rises as a cloud of billowing dust. Veering away from the main road, nearing the residential area of Kuji town 4-chome, a great number of Self-Defense Forces Personnel are working on removing debris. In front of the Kuji Citizens' Exchange Center, staff walk about on foot to examine the area. They confirm a scar on the wall of a residential home approximately 1m high, which the tsunami clearly left behind. The staff car continues to head further into the neighborhood, in the direction of Kuji town 3-chome. The narrow street lined with homes and shops is covered in dirt everywhere. At times, residents cleaning up outside are witnessed. At around 4:30pm, staff visit the Kuji Fishing Port area adjacent to the northeastern part of Hitachi district. Viewing down at the harbor from a hill, one can confirm overturned ships floating around within, and ships that have ran aground the quay wall.
