Try humongous, The Tibetan Mastiff looks more bear than a dog. These canines are an ancient breed that originates from China. They are extremely strong, intelligent, and independent dogs who love to make their own decisions. These gentle giants can be a huge hassle to train since they like doing things on their own terms. These dogs are bred to be guard dogs and they’re great at their job. The Tibetan Mastiff can easily hold its own against wild animals. An average Tibetan Mastiff has a bite force of 556 PSI and can reach a height of 26 inches and weigh anywhere between 100 and 160 pounds. Why anyone would want such a dangerous beast in their house is beyond us. And you have to go through a lot of trouble to get your hand on these dogs, the Tibetan Mastiff is an incredibly rare and expensive breed. A true-blooded Mastiff can sell for as much as 1.5 million dollars, making them one of the most expensive dog breeds out there. Turkish Kangal The Turkish Kangal is one of the most popular dog breeds in Turkey. Originally meant for guardian livestock, the Turks slowly warmed up to the Kangal and domesticated them to keep as pets. Although they aren’t that common in the states they are extremely popular in African countries such as Namibia and Nigeria due to their intimidating size and protective nature. They can successfully protect local herds from lions, cheetahs, and other indigenous predators. And despite their mean streak, the Turkish Kangal is still a very lovable breed of dog. They are extremely loyal to their owners and don’t act out aggressively unless it’s needed. But that hasn’t stopped humans from exploiting these dogs for their size and fighting abilities as they are often subjected to participate in illegal kennel fights.
