@Eid Al Adha - Eid Mubarak 2019 - Bakra Eid Mubarak ईद मुबारक 2019
Eid Al Adha - Eid Mubarak 2019 - Bakra Eid Mubarak Asslaamu Alaikum Warahmatullahi Wa Barakatuh, On behalf of the entire Muslim fraternity, we would like to wish you and your family on the joyous occasion of Eid Ul Adha. Eid Mubarak to one and all. Bakra Eid also known as Eid-ul-Adha is an important festival celebrated by Muslims across the world. Out of the two Eids, Eid al-Fitr and Eid-ul-Adha, which are celebrated by Muslims, Bakra Eid is said to be holier. It is celebrated on at the end of Hajj, an yearly pilgrimage to Mecca which Muslims are required to embark on once in their live. _____________________________________________________ Introduction Bakra Eid is also known as Sacrifice Feast as this day marks Prophet Ibrahim's devotion and faith in Allah. God had once asked Prophet Ibrahim to sacrifice the dearest thing to him to prove his love and faith, and so Prophet Ibrahim decided to sacrifice his only son. When Prophet Ibrahim was about to sacrifice his son, God sent his angel Jibra'il (Gabriel) to replace the son with a goat. And so, since that day Bakra Eid is celebrated to remember Prophet Ibrahim's faith in God. The festival is celebrated by sacrificing a male goat; it is divided into three portions-- the first part is given to relatives, friends and neighbours; the second to the poor and needy; the third is for the family. Delicious dishes like mutton biryani and mutton korma, and desserts like kheer and sheer khurma are prepared on this day. _____________________________________________________ Eid al-Adha Eid al-Adha 'Feast of the Sacrifice', or Eid Qurban, also called the "Festival of the Sacrifice", is the second of two Islamic holidays celebrated worldwide each year (the other being Eid al-Fitr), and considered the holier of the two. It honours the willingness of Prophet Ibrahim (Abraham) to sacrifice his son as an act of obedience to God's command. But, before Abraham could sacrifice his son, God provided a lamb to sacrifice instead. In commemoration of this intervention, an animal is sacrificed and divided into three parts. One share is given to the poor and needy, another is kept for home, and the third is given to relatives. In the Islamic lunar calendar, Eid al-Adha falls on the 10th day of Dhu al-Hijjah, and lasts for three days. In the international (Gregorian) calendar, the dates vary from year to year shifting approximately 11 days earlier each year. Dhu'l-Hijjah or alternatively Zulhijja (Arabic: ذو الحجة‎; properly transliterated, also called Zil-Hajj) is the twelfth and final month in the Islamic calendar. It is a very sacred month in the Islamic calendar, one in which the Hajj (pilgrimage) takes place as well as the Festival of the Sacrifice. During this month Muslim pilgrims from all around the world congregate at Mecca to visit the Kaaba. The Hajj is performed on the eighth, ninth and the tenth of this month. Day of Arafah takes place on the ninth of the month. Eid al-Adha, the "Festival of the Sacrifice", begins on the tenth day and ends on sunset of the 13th. _____________________________________________________ Months of Islamic calendar 1. Dhu al-Hijjah _____________________________________________________ Understanding Animal Offerings on Eid ul-Adha Sacrificing one’s son was a test of Abraham’s faith.  To commemorate and remember Abraham’s trials, Muslims slaughter an animal such as a sheep, camel, or goat.  The practice is often misunderstood by those outside of the faith.  Therefore, several points must be understood here: First, there are no special rituals involved, other than the animal meeting certain requirements.  The animal is slaughtered in the same way it is slaughtered any other time in the year.  The only difference is in the intention.  For regular slaughter, the intention is the meat, but for Eid ul-Adha, it is to worship Allah by commemorating Abraham’s trial. Two, God’s Name is pronounced since Allah has given us power over animals and allowed us to consume their meat, but only in His Name.  By saying the Name of Allah at the time of slaughter, we remind ourselves that even the life of an animal is sacred and we can only take away it’s life in the Name of the One who gave it in the first place. Three, good acts atone for one’s sins.  Offering qurbani is an act of worship that is no exception.  Prophet Muhammad said that the most beloved deed on Eid ul-Adha is offering the qurbani and that it will come on the Day of Resurrection. _____________________________________________________ I wish your life is as spicy as biryani and sweet as kheer. Eid Mubarak!
