Julio Rigal He studied the specialty of trumpet at the school "Guillermo Tomás", in Havana, until reaching the intermediate level and graduating in 2005. At the beginning of his musical career, in 2001, he was invited to play in a concert with the rap duo Obsesión. He participated in the Jazz Plaza 2004 Festival with the Havana Latin Milenium group, directed by Joaquín Pozo. The following year he participated as a guest at the Barbados Jazz Festival, where he shared the stage with prestigious musicians such as: Kenny Garret (saxophonist), Giovanni Hidalgo (congas), Horacio "El Negro" Hernández (drums), and the group Yellow Jackets, with the figure of Bob Mintzer. He also participated in the Festival Jazz Plaza 2005 with the group Diàkara, directed by renowned jazzman Oscar Valdés. In November of that year he obtained the third place in the prestigious Jojazz International Competition for young talents, held in Havana. He received as a reward a trumpet that belonged to an important trumpeter of the Canadian Big Band Los Primos. Between 2005 and 2014 he has shared the stage with prestigious musicians in Cuba such as Bobby Carcassés, Javier Zalba, David Torrens, Descemer Bueno, Ángel Días, Roberto Carcassés, El Greco, Julito Padrón, Alexander Abreu, Raúl Paz, Pablo Milanés, Miriam Ramos , Ernán López-Nussa, Harol López-Nussa, Maykel Ante, among others. In the same way, he made several presentations with the Anacaona female orchestra, and joined the groups of William Vivanco, Kelvis Ochoa and Haydée Milanés. He also performed with the famous American trumpeter Wynton Marsalis and the Puerto Rican band Calle 13. During 2013 he participated in the musical "El Caballero de París", with Descemer Bueno and Kelvis Ochoa, an unprecedented show in Cuba. Rigal accompanied the group of Oscar Valdés in his tour of France in 2007; with the Arango Brothers he performed in 2013 on a tour through several regions of Germany; In that same year with Raúl Paz he appeared on the island of Guadalupe, where he shared the stage with the American group SHIK and the French group Kasaf. During his career, he has intervened in different recordings of Michel Herrera, the Big Band by Joaquín Betancourt, Descemer Bueno, Frank Delgado, the DJ Mala, of British origin, the Cuban group Tr3s palabras. The young trumpeter collaborates with Bandancha, a group of Yissy García, with whom he has performed at important jazz venues in the United States. Since 2014, Rigal has developed his jazz musical project, with the sextet format, composed of: drums, piano, bass, trumpet, saxophone and guest singer. His demo Momentos, with four songs of his authorship, is available online and has the collaborations of Yissy García (drums), Carlos Ríos (bass), Gastón Joya (bass), Jorge Luis Pacheco (piano), Antuan Perrugoría (drums) ), Maykel Ante (voice) and Jorgito Kamankola (rap).
