Son blancas, finas y miden unos 5 milímetros. Las lombrices, u oxiuros, se encuentran en el intestino grueso de muchos niños, especialmente en los de tres a seis años. La infección provoca un picor intenso, aunque no se considera grave. El oxiuro, popularmente conocido como lombriz, es un parásito blanco y muy delgado, que reside exclusivamente en el cuerpo humano. En concreto, estas lombrices se alojan en el intestino grueso, y sólo son visibles de noche o a primera hora de la mañana, en el área del ano y las nalgas , sobre todo en los niños de edad preescolar.
