Official Selection 2021 In an empty office, a woman sits at her desk. She is bored and seems to be waiting for something… After a while a package arrives and she is happy to open it. As time goes by, more and more packages come in and she unpacks them with increasing enthusiasm. Silence and boredom turn into enthusiasm, eagerness, exuberance and hysteria; this builds up throughout the movie. Pieces of paper fly around; more and more packaging and clothing are scattered around the room. Finally she decides to pack and unpack herself. To consume...Excessive shopping can be a reason to deal with emotions. People find themselves buying things to feel better when they are sad, stressed, angry, bored or scared. Shopping can thus become a way of gaining an illusory sense of control. The ability to fantasize is stronger in these shopaholics than usually in other people; they can represent all the positive consequences of buying a particular item. Creating this fantasy world is an opportunity to escape the harsh realities of life.
