Ferroequinology's video: Union Pacific Local Dropping Off a Tanker at a Trackside Industry

@Union Pacific Local Dropping Off a Tanker at a Trackside Industry
Video from March 22, 2016 We were driving along the track, checking to see if the tie change had started yet. When we got to Des Planes, a freight with old-looking engines and a caboose at the end suddenly came out from behind a few trees (I later realized it was coming off the yard lead which curved into the forest) and went past in the other direction; the engines covering the road in blue smoke. I noticed it had a C&NW caboose at the end (probably the same one I had seen before) so it must be a local. We followed the train and finally saw that it had stopped a few miles up the track. Then we took a video of it switching cars. In Des Planes Illinois, there is a small yard with only a few tracks. It is right next to a junction between three main lines that form a small triangle. One line is CN and the other two are UP. The yard has an entrance to both of the UP lines. Freight trains on the north/south track drop off tankers which are sorted by the yard's two engines, UPY 704 and UPY 738, and are taken up the Union Pacific Northwest Metra Line to industries such as the one in this video. The UP NW Metra Line is mostly used by Metra trains bringing passengers between Chicago and the towns northwest of it, but rarely it is possible to see a freight train with covered hoppers, or one of these locals. This video shows the local train exchanging an empty tanker for a full one a few miles up the track. The train was very long today so they used both of the yard's engines.
