The Marciano Interviews - Part Two Main Event TV Series 1961 Guests: Zero Mostel, Gypsy Rose Lee, Tony Bennett This is the second installment of interviews that Rocky Marciano conducted for his 1961 television program, Main Event. The 30 episode series featured guest artists, entertainers, sports figures and celebrities. Each program would include a brief interview with Marciano, followed by a classic fight, which Rocky and his guest would discuss between commercial breaks. In retrospect, the interviews have become classic on their own, and I wanted to show them without the accompanying fight films. This footage comes from a personal 16mm collection. A Singer A Dancer A Comic Of all the guests to appear on Main Event, there's only one who's still alive and still working today -- Tony Bennett. Here, Rocky and young Mr. Bennett discuss dealing with hecklers and how pre-concert preparation is like warming up for a fight. Gypsy Rose Lee and Marciano discuss seeing Tiger Flowers fight, and working with former champion Max Baer, who had died two years earlier.
