Figure it out's video: Five Surprising Facts about FALLING

@Five Surprising Facts about FALLING.
Falling is the second leading cause of accidental death worldwide and is a major cause of personal injury, especially for the elderly. Falling from a building at any height can be really terrifying. Today we are listing some surprising facts on what it's like to fall. Number 1. You might fall faster than you can think. The reaction time is very crucial in a human body. In fact, our brain needs twenty percent of energy to process the required reaction time appropriately. While our reaction time is very fast, the time in which we experience pain or process trauma is much slower. Signals travel through our brains at a rate of about one meter per second. So depending on the height of your fall, you might actually hit the ground before you can process what is happening. Number 2. If you are drunk during a fall, then your chances of survival might be a bit higher. Research has shown that if you are drunk, you are more likely to survive a serious injury, though scientists don't know exactly why. There is a myth that when you are intoxicated, you are better able to absorb an impact because your body is more relaxed, whereas a sober person is likely to be tense. A study conducted at the University of Illinois at Chicago refers to this as the "protective effect." However, this is a working theory and hasn't been confirmed within the scientific community. Number 3. Your skull could shatter. Well that is a bit obvious. About 235 kg or 2,300 newtons of force would be needed to crush a human skull, almost twice as much force as human hands could possibly muster. Depending on how you land when you fall, your skull could crack into several pieces. This type of injury has the potential to cause life-debilitating brain and spine damage. This is why one should wear a helmet when riding a motorcycle, bicycle, or even skateboard. However, a helmet can't prevent serious injury if one falls from the height of a building. Number 4. It's entirely possible to fall without any blood shatter. This means no visible trauma to the body, as well as no blood spatter for forensics to analyze. A fall could result in all internal injuries, or no injuries at all if you have a soft landing. However, internal injuries is still very dangerous. Internal bleeding is serious for two reasons: the excess blood can compress organs and cause their dysfunction. When the bleeding does not stop spontaneously, the loss of blood will cause hemorrhagic shock, which can lead to brain damage and death. Number 5. Falling into water is like falling into concrete. A study states that jumping from 250 feet or more on water is 95% to 98% fatal. The records in High diving is 191.207 ft. The diver sustained some fractures of his thoracic vertebrae. People have fallen or jump from higher starting points and survived. For instance, there are known survivors from jumping from the Golden Gate Bridge.
