Filming Nature's Extremes's video: Holcomb Valley CA - Bellevill Ghost Town

@Holcomb Valley, CA - Bellevill Ghost Town
Founded in 1859, the town of Bellevill, CA in Holcomb Valley, just north of Big Bear Lake, was once home to Southern California's largest Gold rush. After William Holcomb's discovery of Gold in the valley, Bellevill was founded and shortly afterward the population grew to 1500 in the nation's largest county. Bellevill would soon become San Bernardino County's most populated city of the time period. While not much stands of the town today, two of the most significant and well preserved landmarks include the Miner's Cabin and Hangman's Tree, which was said to have hanged many men (as many as four at a time). After each hanging, the branch used to hoist the rope would be cut off to retrieve the body, so you can get a good idea of how many hangings took place on the massive Juniper Tree.
