Filofax. Discover our Beginnings: Originally innovated thanks to the vision of British Colonel Disney and later named by an enterprising typist, Grace Scurr, the Filofax was introduced to the market in the early 20th Century and with it, a new way to approach personal organisation. The Original Planner quickly gained in popularity, with numerous trades and industries recognising the value of having all of their ‘facts’ condensed into one portable ‘file’. However, at the height of the Blitz, everything was lost when the Aldersgate Street office was reduced to rubble. And this is where the story would have ended, had it not been for Grace. She had made daily entries of every company detail in her own Filofax which she took home with her every night. So whilst London was ablaze, the core of the business was safe with Grace in a bunker. ...thanks to her diligence, the company was back in business. New premises were quickly found and thanks to her diligence, the company was back in business. Grace was rewarded with a promotion to Chairman, where she continued in an active role until 1955.
