Finchesca's video: Black Cheeked Zebra Finch baby in Australia Update: No :

Is this a baby Black Cheeked Zebra Finch? It's two weeks since fledging. I know I will find out soon anyway (just wait another week or two) but I'm very interested in what people experienced with this mutation think because the Black Cheek Zebra is believed not to exist, or to be extremely rare, in Australia currently. UPDATE: Within a few days of this video this bird started a heavy moult, very much like a Gouldian Finch only heavier! This is not typical of Zebras at all and very unexpected. His siblings are not doing this. At this point there is no sign of the black cheek patch developing, but the pin feathers are currently obscuring his colouring. More to come... UPDATE 2: That was the fastest moult in history! Now looks exactly like a regular Zebra! How strange. (My kingdom for a Black Cheek!!! .... ;) )
