This is how Lady Gouldian Finches look during their annual Spring moult. You can see the white pin feathers on their heads, ready to unfurl into beautiful brand new feathers. The breast and belly feathers are already complete. The black-headed bird on the left is unusual - he looks really untidy because he's moulting in chunks!...but he's a very handsome bird once his new feathers come in.
