Beautiful Sun Bear With Incredibly Long Tongue! This video features an adorable Male Sun Bear called Toni at Chester Zoo. 🐻🍯🐾😍 Sun Bears are solitary animals until the breeding season. At Chester Zoo Male Sun Bear Toni and Female Sun Bear Milli are a breeding pair and have one female cub called Kyra which means 'Sun Goddess' who was born a Chester Zoo 13th June 2018, and was the first Sun Bear to be born in the UK. Toni and Milli were rescue bears, conservationists rescued them as they were being kept as pets in Cambodia, In 2013 they were moved to The Rare Species Centre in Kent, UK, before moving on to there new home, Chester Zoo in 2015. In the wild, Sun Bears live in rainforests and montane forests and are native to South East Asia. Sun Bears get their name from the yellow or orange crescent marking on their chest, which legend says resembles the rising or setting sun. They have famously long tongues at around an incredible 25cm in length, which enables them to extract food such as honey and insects from small spaces. They have short black fur, which helps to keep them cool in hot climates. Sun bears are also known as Honey Bears due to their love of Honey and are the smallest of all the 11 living species of bear. They have very powerful jaws that can tear open trees in search of insects to eat. They also have big paws with large sharp claws and hairless soles that help them climb trees. They have litters of one or two cubs which remain with their mothers until around 2 years old. A Sun Bears diet consists of: Lizards, Little Birds, Rodents, Insects, Termites, Ants, Beetle Larvae, Bee Larvae, Honey and Fruit, especially Figs. This family group of Sun Bears can be seen at the Islands area at Chester Zoo, Cheshire, England, UK Recorded at Chester Zoo on the 6th March 2022 Chester Zoo is one of the largest and is the most visited zoo in the UK and has been voted the UK's best Zoo.
