Eid ul Adha 2014, The Yearning for God, is a spiritual encounter story of the Hajj pilgrimage to the Holy city of Mecca in Saudi Arabia, told through the experience and emotions by Moulana Abbas Mkhize and his elderly parents Abdul Haq Abdur Rahman and Zuleikha June Mkhize. They shared their early lives as Muslims growing up in the townships and their dreams of fulfilling the Hajj pilgrimage at least once in their lifetime, one of the fundamental pillars of Islam. This dream was realized when they were fortunate to journey together with their son to walk in the footsteps of the Prophet Abraham, his son Ishmael and mother Hagar, culminating in the ultimate experience of sacrifice. On the day of celebration, Eid ul Adha is when they sacrifice an animal honouring Abraham’s willingness to sacrifice his son Ishmael for the love of God.
