Fionordequester's video: Legend of Zelda Oracle of Ages Shield-Boosted D2 Skip

@Legend of Zelda, Oracle of Ages (Shield-Boosted D2 Skip!)
First of all, please tell me if you mind me uploading videos not related to my Walkthroughs. It's not the content most of you signed up for, but it's content I enjoy. In any case, I'm not a speedrunner myself, but I'll still dabble in it from time to time, for fun. I'll typically try to create my own versions of tricks—versions that are slower, but easier to pull off from a casual perspective. And yes, the original trick (without the shield) is even trickier. Requires two frame perfect actions, in fact. I'm hoping this trick makes them more lenient. In any case, the trick itself can be boiled down to these steps (if it seems tricky, this is why I'm trying to make it easier on myself): 1) Hard reset in order to reset RNG [the wall poking was a step between this and step 2 in order to shift your sub-pixels... However, it turns out, that's unnecessary with this variation of the skip!] 2) Swing your sword till your hear a High note, Medium note, High note, Medium note, and High note, in that order, then hold your sword out on that last slash. That'll change the RNG and effect enemy behavior in the next room. 3) Go under that chain chomp thing, then move your foot as far over the edge as possible 4) Go down a bit, so that you're below the row the Red Slime is on. 5) Wait till the chain chomp thing's eyes are aligned with that tile, like I did in the video, then pause. 6) Hold down the Bomb button as you come out of the Pause menu, then line yourself up with the Red Goo. 7) Pause buffer via mashing the Start & Select buttons till the bomb flashes red for the 5th time. 8) Replace the Bomb with the Shield button, then hold Right + Shield coming out of a menu. 9) Pause again super quickly, then hold Right + Jump (Roc's Feather) coming out of a menu 10) Press the Shield button at some point mid-air, and hopefully the enemy will bounce you over the gap! Steps 8-10 use to involve two frame perfect moments without the shield. But, since we DO have a shield, the timing is much easier. You don't even need to track the sub-pixels!
