Thinking about getting a personal trainer? Here are the 6 tips to pick a good personal trainer!! - Is the trainer accredited? The first step is to make sure that your trainer is an accredited trainer. Although I’m one to believe that certifications and degrees are pretty much worth the paper that they’re printed on, at least this trainer took the first step to trying to become legit. There are different types of accreditations from different organizations, but really, being certified is just a sign of this trainer at least caring about appearing legit. - Schedule of trainer? This one is sort of a no-brainer, but I think some people just ask the trainer’s schedule, and of course the trainer is gonna say he’s going to fit you in if you like to sign up. But you can ask more indirectly by asking how many people he’s working with at the moment, and pretty much figuring out yourself how easily he could fit you in with your schedule. - Is the trainer experienced in your goals? What are you trying to do? Gain weight? Lose bodyfat? Doing a physique show? Shaving time off your 40? I believe that experience trumps everything. Give me a guy who’s spent his entire life trying to be a 300 lb bodybuilding monster with zero education than someone who has his kinesiology degree from some college who’s never tried to get huge in his life. You’ll need to find a trainer who’s been through what you’re trying to go through. If you’re trying to be a physique competitor, you need a trainer who’s been through that. If you’re trying to shave time off of your mile, you need to find a trainer who’s had that goal in mind. The experience they’ll have in achieving that goal will give you many little tricks that most likely isn’t taught in books. - What’re the results of past clients? - What’s the trainer’s style? - Is the trainer in shape?
