A paved trail between Kings Park and East Hall Road on North Merritt Island, the Island Pioneer Trail follows what appears to be one of the first roadways on the island, flanked by mangrove swamps and lush hammocks on peninsulas where people once lived. It is only a little over a linear mile long, but there are established trailheads at both ends. It appears plans are to eventually extend it north to Pine Island Conservation Area and Kennedy Space Center. The south end is on the entrance road to NASA's Kars Park.
